The Forgotten

I picked up ‘The Forgotten‘ last night at Blockbuster and I didn’t have very high hopes. The cast wasn’t that great, except for Julianne Moore, who’s looking better as she gets older. The other interesting cast member is Dominic West, from HBO’s ‘The Wire.’ West isn’t the only cast member from HBO, however. Robert West, also from ‘The Wire,’ is in ‘The Forgotten.’

The movie is essentially about Julianne Moore and her dead son, and the conspiracy that surrounds his death. Along the way, she recruits Dominic West in her quest and we learn that We Are Not Alone. I know it sounds contrite, but I actually liked this movie. There’s a car crash early on that really surprised me. (I’m a guy. I can’t say I was scared.) Other effects in the movie are equally impressive, but muted. The effects don’t carry the movie, however. Acting is pretty solid, with West playing a reluctant drunk and Moore as the driven mother.

Either way, it’s better than ‘Troy’ or ‘The Village.’

In an effort to discourage comment spam, I’ve updated the blog software to Wordpress 1.5, which explains why the blog looks different. I’m kinda digging it, but I may decide to update it later.

In other news, I had way too much fun at Get Me High Lounge in Bucktown. I had some friends in from out of town and there’s always this weird pressure to show them how great your city is. Or, get them drunk to the point that they think they had a good time.

Sometimes, even car manufacturers can develop a good ad:

I don’t know how to make the two dots of the “e” in Citroen. Sorry.
